1. Adulterous eyes reveal the sick heart - vs 27-30

  • The problem
    • Adultrey
    • Lust
  • The prevention
    • Remove stumbling blocks
    • Purify the heart

2. Divorced stigma reveals the scarred heart - vs 31-32

    • Loose interpretation
    • Selfish and arrogant hearts
  • The preservation

  • Not by natural birth
  • But by supernatural birth
    • Salvation is:
      • not by trying, but by trusting
      • through a Savior, not self effort
      • necessary because of our nature

2. The Nature of Justification vs 19

  • Dead to the law
  • Alive in Christ

3. The Result of Justification  vs 20-21

  • Identify with Christ
  • Ideal lifestyle

  • pretenders vs preachers 

3. Quantity Righteousness vs Quality Righteousness 

  • Two key truths from Jesus:
    • He demands a righteousness greater than the most religious 
    • He is demanding a righteous heart by divine grace

    • to be obedient

3. To follow Jesus means awed by him

  • A disciple will get to be awed with:
    • to see great and mighty things
    • to hear great and mighty truth
    • to know great and mighty treasure

1. His ministry is distinct from all others

  • Two things about Jesus going to Galilee
    • Hometown rejection
    • Headquarters relocation

2. His reach is different than all others

  • Look who Jesus will preach and reach
    • Marginalized Jews
    • Gentiles
    • Entire known world

3. His message is divine from above

  • Characteristic for every preaching
    • Certainty
    • Authority
    • Source beyond Himself
